Work Groups
Background
Based on their daily experience of running businesses in Latvia, FICIL members identify the areas for improvement and specify the problem issues which are generic to the particular industry or the entire business community. FICIL work groups are established if the majority of the membership agrees that certain issues are critical for the overall investment climate and economic development of the country and therefore should be indicated to the government or other public authorities and proceeded for advancement.
FICIL member companies and the participating chambers of commerce delegate their representatives, professionals in different fields of entrepreneurship to work in the FICIL's groups. The groups monitor activities carried out by the ministries, other state organizations and the city authorities. They work out proposals, invite officials for discussions and view exchange. In parallel with the internal activities, committees' members join the working groups organized by the ministries or other public organizations.
FICIL recommendations have been implemented by the Government of Latvia between 1999 – 2010 through the Action Plans for Improved Business Environment.
