FICIL Members Implementing Best Practices to Support the Society During Crisis

Despite the current hardships we face dealing with the impact of Covid-19, we feel that it is important not to lose focus on the positive. Among the worrisome information we face every day due to the global pandemic, FICIL would like to highlight some good deeds of companies that selflessly implement best practices and socially responsible activities for a greater common good. Amber Beverage Group
In a time where the market often experiences shortages of disinfectants, our member Amber Beverage Group has begun producing hand sanitisers. Amber Beverage Group will be making the product available to major retail chains and also plans to produce enough to supply hospitals and other institutions where hand sanitiser supplies are low.

Balta
Understanding the difficult availability of outpatient services due to COVID-19 infection control measures and in care for their customers, BALTA will cover fees of their clients’ online consultations of medical specialists.

BITE Latvija
In order to facilitate the work of medical staff during this crisis, BITE Latvija provided free communication services to its business clients – hospital, polyclinic and general practitioner practitioners for three months. Moreover, BITE Latvija provided 3000 smart devices to school children in Latvia who are not able to continue their schooling remotely from home.

Circle K
In order to thank operative services for the selfless work during this busy time, Circle K  provides free coffee or other hot drinks to all employees of the Emergency Medical Service, the State Fire and Rescue Service, the State Police, the Municipal Police and the State Border Guard until April 14 at Circle K DUS throughout Latvia.

Citadele
In response to doubts over the impact of Covid-19 on the economic situation of households, Citadele is offering the option of delaying base loan repayments for those of job loss, unpaid leaves or reduced income.

Coca-Cola Company
The Coca-Cola Company together with Coca-Cola Hellenic is increasing significantly the support they give to communities in the form of financial aid to organisations such as the Red Cross and product donation to those medical and hospital professionals on the very front-line.

Deloitte
Deloitte has implemented a collection of insights to help businesses manage and mitigate the risk associated with Covid-10, information ranging from tax to tips on maintaining customer loyalty during the times of uncertainty.

Eversheds-Sutherland
Eversheds-Sutherland has released an overview of governmental economic support that is constantly updated to provide insights into the measures that have been announced by governments in various jurisdictions in response to the Covid-19 outbreak. Additionally Eversheds-Sutherland has released all the necessary information on downtime compensation.

GlaxoSmithKline
GlaxoSmithKline has been intensely working on providing consumers with the products that are currently in high demand, helping frontline health workers by donations to The Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund, screening and research into new medicines as well as supporting research and production of Covid-19 vaccines.

KPMG
Similarly to others, KPMG has a special section on their webpage dedicated to Covid-19 to help you position your business to be resilient in the face of this global threat, providing timely insights from KPMG business leaders.

Luminor has also introduced credit and leasing payment holidays for those affected or unable to meet their liabilities in a timely manner. More information regarding the grant of grace periods available on their webpage.

Neste
With Neste’s support, warm meals will be provided to medics, as Neste joins the supporters of the initiative “Meals for doctors – Table for our own”. Thanks to the Neste donation, warm meals will be provided to the doctors involved in the prevention of the Covid-19 crisis throughout Latvia with the help of the foundation “HOSPISS LV”.

Responding to the potential business impacts of Covid-19, PwC has also summarised some FAQ’s and useful bits of information on preventing Covid-19 from affecting your business, as well as organises webcasts on the impacts on organisations and how they have responded to the outbreak.
