In order to make the protection of intellectual property more efficient, Foreign Investors’ Council in Latvia (FICIL) has worked out the amendments to the Copyright Law.
The aim of the amendments is to create reasonable limits on author’s rights to revoke a performed result. Currently an author is granted with unrestricted rights to revoke his work and limit the use of his audio-visual works, computer programs. This is undermining Latvia’s competitiveness and the development of the industry in the global digitalised world.

It must be noted that FICIL has been actively proposing similar legislative changes since 2014. You can have a look at the FICIL Position Paper on Promotion and Protection of Intellectual Property from 2014 to read detailed analysis and proposals.
