Jānis Andžāns, Head of Corporate and Public Affairs at Omniva Group (Latvia and International Markets), has been elected to the Executive Board of the Foreign Investors’ Council in Latvia (FICIL). Jānis Andžāns joins the Board following the departure of Juris Antužš (Enefit) and will serve for the remainder of his term.
Jānis Andžāns brings more than fifteen years of experience in strategic communication, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement across the logistics, e-commerce, and corporate advisory sectors. At Omniva, he is a member of the leadership team responsible for shaping the company’s public narrative across Latvia and international markets, working closely with policymakers, industry partners, and stakeholders to support the development of cross-border logistics and e-commerce markets in the Baltic region. He previously served as Omniva’s Head of Communication and Sustainability in Latvia, and held senior strategy roles at Nords Porter Novelli, the Institute for Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility, and Golin Riga.
“Competitiveness depends on the ability to adapt quickly, and the preconditions for growth are flexibility, efficiency, and smart solutions, all of which generate greater value for the economy and for society as a whole. I am convinced that this is precisely where Latvia has meaningful room to grow, and where the international business community can make a tangible contribution: helping decision-makers craft more effective regulation, reach decisions faster, and build a business environment that keeps pace with technological and market change”, says Jānis Andžāns.
FICIL also extends its sincere gratitude to Juris Antužš, who stepped down from the Board, following the conclusion of his tenure at Enefit. During his time on the Executive Board, Juris Antužš made a substantive contribution to the Energy & Industrialisation Work Group and its predecessor, the Energy & Green Economy Work Group, lending the perspective and expertise of one of the region’s leading energy companies to FICIL’s policy dialogue with the Latvian government. FICIL wishes him every success in his future endeavours.
The FICIL Executive Board is chaired by Reinhold Schneider, Chairperson of the Board of SCHWENK Latvija. Māris Vainovskis, Senior Partner at Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns, and Mindaugas Rakauskas, CEO of Bite Latvija, serve as Vice-chairpersons of the Executive Board. Kata Fredheim (SSE Riga, Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Latvia), Lauris Mencis (Swedbank Latvia), Liene Dubava (American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia), Ilze Berga (KPMG Latvia), and Jānis Andžāns (Omniva) serve as members of the Executive Board.
FICIL is a non-governmental organisation that brings together the largest foreign-owned companies operating in Latvia across a range of industries, foreign chambers of commerce, and the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. FICIL’s mission is to use the experience and knowledge of its members to provide recommendations to the public sector to improve Latvia’s business environment and its competitiveness in attracting foreign investment.
